Water Quality

Drinking water quality is very important to Citizens Water. Many significant efforts and investments are made to ensure that the water supplied to our customers is safe to drink. These efforts include the protection of our source water, quality control in the water treatment process, and proper maintenance of the distribution system. All of our drinking water treatment plants that treat water drawn from surface water sources are continuously staffed by certified, trained, experienced operators.

Assurance of drinking water quality produced by all our treatment plants includes an extensive battery of water quality testing to ensure that no harmful traces of either chemical or microbial contaminants are present in the water. Each year we measure and report our compliance with drinking water regulations.

Information about water sources, results of testing for the presence of regulated parameters and how to obtain additional information is summarized in our Annual Water Quality Review published and distributed as directed by the Consumer Confidence Report Rule.

The water quality reported surpasses water quality requirements established for health protection by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and enforced by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management.

A copy of the report is mailed to all customers and is available for download here:
